How to Prepare for Your First Boudoir Session

OMG, you’ve booked your first boudoir session… congrats!

I’m beyond excited to work with you and capture your distinctive beauty. But if you’re feeling a mix of excitement and nerves, that’s totally normal.

To help with any “pre-session” nerves, here are some simple tips to help you feel prepped, confident, and ready for an experience strictly about celebrating you.

Tip 1: Pick Outfits That Make You Feel Like a Million Bucks

Boudoir isn’t a one-size-fits-all kind of experience, and the same goes for your wardrobe!

Sure, lace lingerie is a classic, but it’s your session.

If you feel more yourself in a cozy sweater, an off-the-shoulder tee, or even a favorite pair of jeans… bring it!

I can work with whatever makes you feel the most comfortable and beautiful.

Try on a few pieces beforehand, see what feels right, and don’t worry about bringing a variety; BRING IT ALL and I can help you choose the best looks when you get here.

Pro Tip: Mix up textures, colors, and styles to give your photos variety. And if you have accessories, they’re always welcome! (more on that later)

Tip 2: Take Some Time for Skin, Hair/body hair, and Nail Prep

A little bit of self-care goes a long way!

Moisturized skin, freshly washed hair, shaved legs (and other parts if desired), and well-kept nails are key players here.

There is no need to make any drastic changes!

Stick to what makes you feel naturally amazing. And hey, if you’re a nail-color that POPS kind of person, throw on your favorite polish!

Bonus Self-Care Tip: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to the session and skip salty foods the night before (trust me, your skin will thank you).

Tip 3: Accessorize!

A statement necklace, a pair of earrings, stunning rings (yes, even toe rings), or even a simple bracelet can add a unique touch to your photos.

If there’s something with sentimental value, like a family heirloom or a piece from a loved one, it’s a beautiful way to personalize your session in a minimal way.

Fun Ideas: Hats, scarves, and even a piece of clothing with a story can add a fun, authentic element to your photos.

Tip 4: Prepare for Some Major Self-Love

This is where it all comes together. Boudoir sessions are about you, just as you are. They’re not about conforming to anyone else’s idea of beauty. They’re about your beauty, your style, your comfort.

I’ll be there guiding you through every pose and angle, so don’t sweat it if you’re feeling unsure about how to “look” or “pose.”

This is a place to embrace the moment, and I’m here to make sure you feel safe, comfortable, and empowered.

Mindset Tip: Boudoir is your time to step out of the day-to-day and celebrate yourself, fully. So, take a breath and allow yourself to have fun with it!

Tip 5: Fuel Up Before the Session

I get it… you might want to skip the heavy breakfast, but a light meal or snack a couple of hours beforehand will keep you feeling energized.

Hydration is key too, so don’t forget to bring some water. I have some in the studio, in case you forget yours.

Also, let me know some of your favorite snacks so I can stock up!

You’re not yourself when you’re hungry… My goal is for you to see your comfort and confidence shine from the inside out.

Tip 6: Remember, This is Your Time… Enjoy It!

It’s natural to feel a little nervous, but I promise, the excitement will kick in and the nerves will settle once we get started.

My goal is for you to look back on this experience as something that felt empowering and fun. Something you’ll be proud of yourself for doing.

So, whether you’re here to embrace the power of a pose, laugh it all out, or just try something new, trust that we’re creating something beautiful, together.

I’ve got your back the whole way!

Preparing for your first boudoir session can feel like a big step, but really, it’s just about showing up as you are.

Follow these tips to bring your best, confident self to the studio, and I’ll take care of the rest. Still have questions? Don’t hesitate to reach out! I’m here to help with anything you need to make this an experience to remember.
